NAMS Celebrates International Membrane day 2026
NAMS celebrates International Membrane Day on April 14—a day to honor the pioneers who established the foundations of membrane science, the innovators who translated that science into technologies for industrial separations, clean water, efficient energy, safe food, and better health, and the next generation who will push the field's frontiers through the twenty-first century and beyond.
To mark this day, NAMS highlights key membrane separation applications and their societal impact—while leaving space to ask an important question: what comes next?
💬 We invite the community to join the conversation, share their perspectives, spark discussion, and inspire future innovations:
• Which membrane separation has had the greatest impact so far?
• What stands out as truly game-changing, and why?
• What new separations or applications will be unlocked in the next 10 years?
Let’s celebrate past achievements and shape the future of membrane science together.
Dear NAMS community,
I invite you to join us in celebrating International Membrane Day. This day is a unique opportunity for our scientific, research, industrial, and academic communities, including the younger generation of membrane students, to remember, acknowledge, and celebrate the pioneers who took the first steps in the fundamental knowledge of membrane formation and applications. To celebrate the innovators who contributed to establishing the foundational pillars for membrane separation at the macro-, micro-, and nanoscale levels. These innovations have made it possible to create robust membrane separation technologies to advance industrial breakthrough applications and provide efficient energy, clean water, safe food, and better health. This day is also an opportunity to invite the new generation of membrane dreamers, who bring with them far-reaching ideas and tools, to push the frontiers of the world of membranes in this still young, but soon to become a mature, XXI century, and beyond, to make a resilient and better world.
Sincerely,
Lucy Mar Camacho, Ph.D.
