NAMS Annual Meeting Student Travel Awards

The NAMS Annual Meeting Student Travel Awards are presented annually to outstanding young students who are just beginning research in the membrane area. Preference will be given to undergraduates and graduate students within the first 2 years of their graduate program.

Each NAMS Annual Meeting Travel Award will provide up to $1000 reimbursement for reasonable expenses associated with attending the meeting (e.g. travel cost, registration, workshops), and a free one-year membership in NAMS. Applicants must be nominated by a current member of NAMS.

Application materials (submitted as one electronic PDF file)

  • the following items must be submitted as a single PDF file or the application will be rejected:
  • one-page resume describing the applicant's education (including undergraduate and graduate GPA) and work experience,
  • 1-2 page letter written by the applicant describing (i) her/his interest in membrane science/technology, (ii) applicant's current undergraduate or graduate research, and (iii) how attendance at the meeting will be beneficial to their research/career, and
  • one-page nomination letter by faculty supervisor who is a current member of NAMS; each faculty supervisor may nominate only a single student for the Annual Meeting Student Travel award.

Application deadlines and review
Application packages must be received by February 15, 2013 per e-mail to Uwe Beuscher, ubeusche@wlgore.com. Applications will be reviewed by the NAMS Awards Committee. Award decisions will be made as soon as possible.

All Awards Committee votes will be independently tallied by the Tellers Committee. If one or more Tellers Committee members also are Awards Committee members, all such members will be replaced by Board appointees for the purpose of validating the results of award voting only.

We expect to provide up to 5 Annual Meeting Student Travel Awards. Questions regarding the NAMS Annual Meeting Student Travel Awards or application procedures should be addressed to:
